Every tile in standard English-language Scrabble has a fixed point value, from 1 point for the most common letters up to 10 points for the rarest. Here is the full chart — what each letter is worth, and how many of each tile you’ll find in the 100-tile set.

Why the values are set the way they are
The tile values were designed around how often each letter appears in English. Common letters — the vowels and letters like N, R, S and T — are worth only 1 point because they turn up constantly and are easy to play. The rarest letters are worth the most: Q and Z at 10 points, J and X at 8. The set also contains fewer of the high-value tiles (one each of J, K, Q, X and Z, versus twelve E tiles), so landing a big scorer on a premium square is one of the most satisfying plays in the game.

What are the highest-value letters in Scrabble?
Q and Z are worth 10 points each — the most of any tile. J and X are next at 8 points, followed by K at 5 points. These letters are rare in the set, which is exactly why they score so high.
How many points is each letter worth in Scrabble?
A, E, I, O, U, L, N, S, T and R are 1 point; D and G are 2; B, C, M and P are 3; F, H, V, W and Y are 4; K is 5; J and X are 8; and Q and Z are 10. Blank tiles are worth 0 points.
How many tiles are in a Scrabble set?
A standard English Scrabble set has 100 tiles: 98 letter tiles and 2 blanks. The letters are distributed by how often they appear in English — there are 12 E tiles but only one each of J, K, Q, X and Z.
Why are some Scrabble letters worth more than others?
Tile values reflect how difficult a letter is to play. Common letters that appear in many words (like E, A and R) are worth 1 point, while rare letters that are hard to use (like Q and Z) are worth 10. The scoring rewards you for playing difficult tiles.
